The Goods Mart opened a new flagship store in South Williamsburg
Retail concept joins the Williamsburg Wharf waterfront development
Store features more than 400 curated snack and beverage products
What The New Williamsburg Store Includes
The Goods Mart has officially opened its new flagship location in South Williamsburg at Williamsburg Wharf, marking the company’s latest expansion nearly eight years after launching its curated convenience concept. Located at 470 Kent Avenue, the new store serves as the first retail tenant to open within the larger Williamsburg Wharf waterfront development. The flagship spans approximately 600 square feet and features more than 400 products across over 250 brands, focusing heavily on emerging food and beverage companies alongside established better-for-you snack brands.
What Makes The Retail Concept Different
Founded in 2018 by Rachel Krupa, The Goods Mart was created around a curation-first retail model centered on product discovery rather than traditional convenience store merchandising. The company emphasizes personally tested products with no slotting fees or paid shelf placement, giving smaller emerging brands access to retail exposure often dominated by larger consumer packaged goods companies. The assortment focuses on products free from artificial flavors and colors while also catering to changing consumer preferences around protein, ingredients, wellness, and convenience. The store also extends beyond traditional retail into hotel minibars, office pantry programs, and event partnerships.
What Williamsburg Wharf Adds To The Project
The new flagship is located inside Williamsburg Wharf, the 3.75-acre mixed-use waterfront development by Naftali Group along the East River in Brooklyn. The master-planned project combines luxury condominiums, rentals, retail, dining, and public waterfront space within one large-scale development site. The arrival of The Goods Mart reflects the growing emphasis developers are placing on curated retail and experiential neighborhood-serving tenants within luxury mixed-use projects.
What This Means For Brooklyn Retail Trends
The opening highlights how retail concepts in Brooklyn continue evolving away from traditional convenience and toward more lifestyle-driven, highly branded experiences. Developers and landlords increasingly seek smaller-format operators capable of creating community identity and neighborhood engagement rather than relying solely on large national chains. The Goods Mart’s focus on discovery, local partnerships, and accessible pricing also reflects broader consumer demand for more curated and experience-oriented retail environments. The store officially opened on May 13 and will host a public friends-and-family event later this month.
